ULTIMO - Dexio in Oslo

As part of the European ULTIMO project, our team travelled to Oslo for three intensive days dedicated to field testing, collaborative workshops and strategic reflections on the future of autonomous mobility.

Day 1 : Collaborative workshops & trials of the on‑demand autonomous service

This first day brought together all the partners for a series of collaborative workshops focused on the project's operational challenges. We also tested the autonomous on‑demand mobility service in real conditions: always impressive to see technologies conceived during the research phases come to life in the field and to gauge the progress made by the consortium.

Day 2: Full incident management test with the Pulse Dashboard

Arguably one of the most memorable moments of the trip: an end-to-end incident management test.
A simulated altercation inside an autonomous vehicle was automatically detected by our AI algorithms, then fully handled via our Pulse Dashboard, in collaboration with Ruter's operational teams.

Seeing the whole chain operate in near-real conditions at https://ultimo-he.eu/: detection, analysis, monitoring, intervention, confirms the relevance of our approach and paves the way for applications far beyond autonomous mobility: hospitals, airports, conference centres, etc.

The day continued with further field tests of the autonomous shuttles running in the streets of Oslo, still essential for refining our understanding of usage and operational challenges.

Day 3: Risks, resilience and large-scale deployment

The final day began with the striking presentation “Lion in the Cage”, an in-depth analysis of the risks associated with electric and autonomous vehicles, and more specifically with drive-by-wire architectures.
A demonstration as enlightening as it was unsettling, reminding us of the crucial importance of safety, reliability and resilience in future autonomous infrastructures.

The subsequent sessions addressed the key issues of deploying autonomous services, international feedback and collaboration strategies for the next phase of ULTIMO.

A huge thank you

We extend our sincere thanks to Ruter and to Christian Willoch for their exceptional hospitality and for opening the doors of their facilities during these three days.
Special mention to Mattia Gustarini! His commitment and vision make a real difference to the project.

And now?

This stop in Oslo marks a major step forward for ULTIMO. It confirms the strength of the consortium, the technological maturity of the solutions developed, including the Pulse Dashboard, and prepares the next stages of the deployment.

Dexio is proud to help shape the future of autonomous mobility in Europe.
